Hi
I am trying to get a beam of light. I tried the expression “Ex=exp(-(x^2+y^2)/w0^2)*exp(-j*emw.k0*z)” when solving for scattered field instead of full field. I right clicked “solver configurations—dependent variables 1” and choose “compute to selected”, computer gave me a beam of light I expected. As figure 1 in attachment shows. “compute to selected” corresponds to “get initial value” in 3.5a, as Ivar said in www.comsol.com/community/forums/general/thread/15407/. But when I right clicked “study” and choose “compute”, I cannot get that beam of light. What I get is a completely different result in which light even do not propagate. As figure 2 shows.
Why is the solved result so far away from the “compute to selected” result?
Figure 1 in attachment is done by “compute to selected”, figure 2 is the solved result.
Thanks for any help
